I’m not doing quite so well this week and have accomplished very little crafting wise. I seem to be falling back into old (and bad) habits: working quite late (I didnt get in until 9pm tonight) and feeling quite stressed out (its not the best time to be working for the charity sector in the UK at the moment). So my new mantra is ‘work is not my life…work is not my life…work is not my life...’.
The mantra is helping a bit, as is having a lovely hubby to come home to and weirdly, having my own little ‘me’ space here in blogland!
So... in my space this week, all I can really show is this scraps bag I made up at the weekend on the recommendation of some of some friendly commentees from a couple of weeks ago.
I used some of the patchwork I created recently, used felt for the padding/structure and left over linen and gingham cotton for the covering. Its handles turned out longer than I had planned and the linen is a bit too light, but overall its quite cute and might even make a nice little summer tote bag if I am short of one!

This weeks creative space - Patchworkiness
So I hope you all had a lovely Valentines day. We stayed in with curry, video games and 'The Wire' box set (yes we are VERY behind - only on season 3!). It was awesome!
I got back on track with some material crafting at the weekend after finding these lovely materials.
I loved the patchworkiness(!?!) of them.
I originally bought them with a little girl I know in mind. I was going to make her a summery dress, or something similar, but I’ve changed my mind on that and am going to look for something a bit more floral instead.
Instead I dug out some other materials I had, cut up strips and did some form of random patchworking.
(My favourite crafting beverage (green tea) in my favourite mug)
Colours are all over the place on my photos this week. Dont quite know whats going on with that!
Now I know there’s quite an art to patchwork (particularly when quilting) as fantastically displayed by Karyn on her Make Something blog (I love her use of colour) and Blair on Wisecraft, but that demands a bit too much planning ahead for me at this point so I tend to go a bit more free-form. I LOVE picking up random strips of material, throwing them together and seeing what they turn out to be as a whole.
So I’ve ended up with these...
I’m waiting for inspiration to strike as to what to do with them next. Last time I patchworked I made these pan/pot holders but I want to do something different this time.
I think I might turn the horizontal strip patchwork into a couple of pillows, but I have NO idea for the other one. If you have any suggestions I’d love to hear them!

Pot holder things...
Have discovered the joys of using scraps for stuff. Been making some pot holders (if thats what you'd call them!?!) Been using them as pot stands and oven gloves. So much better than anything else I've used in the past.

Made them by patchworking scraps together, cutting circles of the patchwork and layering it with fleece (bought from a local charity shop) and a circle of very think cotton underneath. Pinned all the layers together, whacked a layer of bias tape aorund the outside and stiched together. So easy!
