Hmmmm...

Whilst Mr T. took the lad out for some play time this morning, I foolishly made the decision to clean an area of the kitchen that hasnt seen sponge in a long LONG while. I could have been crafting instead, but I managed to convince myself that I'd get more time later when the boy was napping or something.

Naturally, that didnt happen! So whilst I feel super virtuous about the cleaning (even though no-one but me will know its been done), I'm now feeling frustrated about not being further ahead! In Homer Simpson's words 'Doh!'.

With the scraps of time I did piece together I managed to finish my more russet coloured Mr Fox (left)

and gave him a new friend - Mr Badger

(and yes the two foxes on the left of both photos are the same colour. The photos were taken seconds apart and inexplicably the light/colour is entirely different. And no, my camera isnt sorted yet!)

I have to say that I'm feeling pretty underwhelmed by both them. I feel like Mr Fox has lost something something of the essence that his red counterpart had, and the badger (which should actually have round ears I've just discovered) needs something too. A natty green bow tie perhaps?

At least someone had fun with them!

I have managed made up a couple of the crowns but I'm even less enamoured with those than with the puppets (hence no picture)! Hmmmmm!

I'm hoping that maybe I'm suffering with a lack of sun or something (has the weather been as awful with you as with us?) and that my enthusiasm will come back shortly. In the meantime I'm joining in with Handmade Monday to get a little dose of cheerfulness from all the lovely things everyone else has made this week.

  1. Oh dear, seems that the cleaning did you no good at all. ;)) Maybe I'm easily pleased but I think Fox and Badger are charming - especially Badger. Amazing what you achieve with just one more 'stripe'. And I LOVE badgers with pointed ears! ... Hope you're feeling a bit better! x

  2. Housework is a bit of a necessary evil, I have what I call 'hidden jobs' these are jobs that no-one else sees but take time and effort and when they're completed it still looks like I haven't done anything.... today my 'hidden job' is the insides of the kitchen cabinets.
I love your puppets, the simplicity makes them so cute.

  4. I know where you are coming from on the housework front. Mine took over a bit so only got to puppet building on Sunday evening. Very frustrating. Your puppets look cute. The brown fox looks more surprised than the red because of the whites on the eyes, but full of character. Your son loves them so that's a good indication of success!

    1. Yes he does look surprised! I hadn't realised! There have been cries of 'there's Mr fox' every time O comes across one this week so definitely a success on some level!

  5. I think your puppets looks great. I agree with Andrea's comment about the brown fox looking more surprised.

Cameras can do strange things with lighting, even though nothing seems to have changed. Maybe the camera adjusted its light levels on the 2nd photo since it featured a lot of black in the badger, rather than the lighter red/orange of the fox in the 1st photo.

    1. Thanks Stephen. Yes you might be right. I built myself a light box this week so will play with light and settings. I'll master it one day hopefully!

  6. Hi Katie,

Thanks for commenting on my blog!

I love Mr Badger! I can see what you mean about Mr Fox the 2nd though - I think it's the eyes. They make him look a little less foxy and a little more, oh I don''t know, beary maybe? (if that is even a word)

And I applaud you for the housework - I should actually be cleaning the bathroom right now but am blogging instead.
    Will do it now though.
Well maybe just one more coffe first :D

    1. Beary should totally be a word in my book! I realised the other day that actually he reminds me of a red panda. So definitely beary!
