Woodland Photo Shoot

Am sitting in the car outside of my house with child #1 asleep in the back and child #2 making my stomach leap so wildly that the laptop (which is precariously balanced between my baby bump and the steering wheel) is increasingly hard to type on. But one has to get things done as and when one can, so on this dismal drizzly day, in my hours worth of compulsory confinement, I figured I’d post a bit on my long neglected blog. I've been meaning to post for an AGE about the little woodland photo shoot I did during the summer...

I’d been wanting to take photos of children enjoying the crowns for a while to use on here, in any promotional bits I might create etc, but hadn't managed to get round to organising anything. Then I was talking to a friend who runs a woodland playgroup who suggested I went along with the crowns to get some pictures at one of their sessions. So I did and it was perfect! Here's a selection of my favourite shots...

The woods were a lovely backdrop for the photos and the children just got to carry on as normal whilst I chased them with the camera. It was actually really fun. I didn’t worry too much about the pictures I was getting at the time and kept clicking away until everyone got bored but I was really pleased with the final results.

What do you think? I used a few of them at a craft fair I did the other day and they fitted in beautifully.

The right light

In my creative space this week I'm having light issues...

In our old flat there was a perfect point on the fireplace mantle that caught the afternoon light 'just right'. It made for  pictures of the stuff I wanted to blog about.

But in our new house I just cant seem to find a similar spot. This is how a photo of my most recent bag turned out.

Not the worst, but just no where near the best either! Something just seems a bit... off! Then I find I either have to engineer some kind of 'set' or massively doctor the final picture (which drives me mad). Its really frustrating!

Do you have a good spot to take your photos?

Pancake Day!

No, my post today isn’t about pancakes, but its Shrove Tuesday today which meant pancakes for dessert! I am sitting here feeling VERY full, but all that sugary loveliness was well worth it.

Thanks for the encouraging comments last week by the way. I am still working tons this week, but I'm hoping to be out from under that particular work cloud soon so things are looking up.

In the mean time, I’ve been looking for something creative to do of an evening (or whilst travelling) that doesn’t take too much energy, equipment or brain power. If you have been reading the artsy crafty babe’s blog recently she’s become quite addicted to appliqué and it looked like the perfect tonic. So out came my scraps… and on went my thinking cap.

I’ve pulled together some of my favourite old threads...

Some of my favourite scraps...

Plotted a few ‘patterns’ (ahem – scribbles on greaseproof paper from the kitchen) ...

And then got sewing...

I've only made a small start so far, but its actually quite therapeutic. Results a bit later in the week!

Oh, before I sign off - I have a  quick shout for help...

I’m hoping to do the 10 on 10 photo challenge (I think its called that) on Thursday. Basically you take 10 photos (one an hour on the 10th day of the month) and share them with others. I saw it a month or so ago on someones blog and was so taken with it I even marked it in my diary. But now I cant remember where on earth I saw it!!!

Does anyone know???  I’d love to link to it! Let me know if you are joining in too – I’ll pop over and see what your day in pictures is like too!
